Driffield Commonplace first phase engagement summary

This infographic provides a summary of the key findings from the first phase of engagement. Thank you to everybody that has engaged with Driffield Commonplace to date.

  • Activity delivered since January 2021 by Driffield Town Council with support as required from East Riding of Yorkshire Council:
  • Discover Driffield high street vouchers launched with over 80 businesses signed up.
  • Banners and posters placed on the high street promoting the new Northern and Station quarters to encourage footfall in these areas.
  • Market Place improvements including new street furniture, planters and an umbrella installation.
  • Town centre shopping map produced and launched for visitors to discover more of the offer on the high street.
  • Loyalty card launched.
  • Town centre cleaning and painting of railings and bollards.
  • Wold Rangers walk launched.
  • Early signs show that despite extremely difficult trading conditions, steady progress is being made overall with an improvement in the performance of the town centre. A combination of new businesses opening in the town centre and long-awaited redevelopment works have also started to address longstanding vacant retail units. The town centre vacancy rate has reduced from 14.9% in December 2020 to 10.6% in July 2021.
